One Lunch Bag Done *** BOM Rehab Report***Christmas Through The Year

002 I started out last week with a lot of ambition..three Lunch Bags finished by the end of the week…no problem. There’s that ov014erly optimistic part of me again. But one bag done feels good. Most of the bag is made out of the new line from Riley Blake, Stars and Stripes. The stars on the rim are another line. I used the tutorial from Ayumi over at Pink Penguin…..it’s a WONDERFUL tutorial, very easy to follow. All three bags will be my Christmas Through The Year gifts for the month…so the other two have to get done!!!

BOMrehab175

Rehab is going well and I can report that I have another Fat Quarter Shop 2011 BOM finish011 .

Block 8 done!!! Yippee, and happy dance, happy dance. Thanks so much Sinta for being our REHAB leader!

cute block!!! Strawberry Fields is such a yummy fabric line! Thanks to Sinta for keeping us motivated.

005

This months Schnibbles project, Summer Day, is coming along nicely. I got all the geese made, sashing strips added and five rows put together007. Two more rows to go and it will be done…..I am doing the happy dance on this one. It calls for a two inch light border, but I just might go without that……as is, it will be the perfect size to hang on my quilt shelf in the entry….hmmm, or guess if I did add the border a table topper in the dinning room….something to ponder!!!

Once again, fun tutorials, and like before if you do use any of these and feature them on your blog, please link back to the designers. Thanks to our generous crafters for use of their pictures and tutorials!

The Geese Are Flying

….well at least being made.  I started on this month012s Schnibbles pattern at my friendship group tonight.  I decided on the recommendation of Sherri and a few others, I would try the Fit to be Geese ruler by Open Gate……WOayos 2012 buttonNDERFUL!!  This is my new favorite method for making geese.  I am using Celebrate Spring charm squares ….one of my fav fabrics.  Thanks to Sinta and Sherri for picking such a fun Schnibbles pattern this month!

Speaking of favorites…this quilt has to be one of my new favorite quilts!!  My friend Sue made it….I really, really, really love it.  The wool flowers dancing around the edge are perfect……hope I didn’t drool on it too much while I put the binding on :-)!  This has to go on my make some day list.

Rehab Report and Banners

BOMrehab175 Sinta is a genius….just sayin’!! For those of us with unfinished BOM’s she has started a rehab group…every Monday we report in and hopefully we have finished a block or two from one of the MANY unfinished BOM’s we have hanging around….come on, you know you have some :-)!!!!!006 I’m going to finish up my Fat Quarter Shop Designer BOM for 2011. In my mind I had most of them done….hmmm. Actually I only have four blocks done. Yesterday I finished block five and the last three stem/leaf blocks. Block five had tons of pieces but went together like a dream. The crew at Fat Quarter Shop does an amazing job on these patterns!

005

I have a thing going for banners. I don’ know what it is, but I just love them. These are from Nicole at Raggedy Old Annies…so stinkin’ cute!!! If you are in need, you can pop over and let her know!! Getting them to stay on my cupboard for the picture was another story!! Tomorrow I will have to decide where Spring will hang!

Wishing you all a very happy week!

Happenings and A Bit Of Sewing…Bragging About My Friend Beth and REHAB!!!!

007 Another fun filled week for sure!!  Our girl came for a short visit this week…there was time to race Big Dot on the driveway.  So much laughing…it just made me think it wasn’t that long ago it was my girl and her brother racing on the driveway.

Wednesday  at sewing it was Mystery Project 004day…..we get a basic supply list and have no idea what we are going to make.  Half the fun is harassing Joan and Theresa (our teac003hers), and lots of whining about not knowing what the project is…they never disappoint us, and always come up with something great…a sweet Posey Pouch to hold Easter Eggs.

006

My friend Loretta, who came to class,  once again came up with a beautiful glass creation.  007

The candlestick on the bottom is the perfect touch.  I love it Loretta!!!!

009

Tonight I whipped up a quick bunny runner.   I’m not very good at day pictures, but night pictures, well ……I’m really bad at those :-)!!

Now to tempt you a bit…this is going to be this months giveaway for Christmas Througchristmasthroughtheyearbuttonh The Year.

A mini bowtie quilt.  I plan to get the binding on this weekend.  If you make a Christmas gift this month you will be in the running for a chance to win 005this mini.  Darlene will have Mr. Linky up on April 30th for you to post your finished project!

Now to brag about my friend Beth.    It’s so wonderful to watch a friend follow their dreams.  After retiring from teaching two years ago and moving to New Mexico, she right away purchased a long arm machine…something she had wanted to do for a long time.  Then like any good quilter, she searched out and found a wonderful group of quilters to hang out with, which lead her to meeting a new friend Ruth.  The two of them have teamed up together to start a quilt retreat business!!!!!  Their site is here.   They both recently attended classes with Eleanor Burns at Quilt In A Day to be certified as teachers.  These ladies are on the ball for sure!!!   So if you are looking for a quilt escape in beautiful New Mexico, please check them out!!!   Their Spring retreat is scheduled for the end of April.

One last thing….I’m in REHAB….Sinta’s BOM Rehab!  Check it out hereBOMrehab175This weekend I will be getting a block or two done from one of my BOM’s hanging around…..now which one to pick…hmmmmm??!!! Happy, happy Friday everyone and a very happy Easter!
