Christmas Through The Year, Schnibbles Finish, Quilt Shop News, and……..

christmasthroughtheyearbutton  Here we are at the end of the month, and I don’t know about you, but with all this heat, thinking Christmas is a bit difficult.  I started off with one idea for my  project and soon realized that one was a bit to ambitious, so here’s my finish.017   What is it about yo yo’s…I love making them, and I have enough to make another couple trees.  I don’t know if you have visited Carol’s blog….she made a Christmas project each day for the month of July.  Stinkin’ cute, adorable, wonderful, amazing…..stop me I could go on and on…..projects, and on her post for TODAY she has a collage of all the projects….again AMAZING!!!!!!  Darlene will have Mr. Linky up tomorrow for you to link up your Christmas gifts for the month….and also there is a giveaway!!!  moredays Have you seen the Seven Days of Christmas Blog Hop going on over here?  Seven days of Christmas blocks and ideas…whoohoo!!!!!!!

The end of the month also means a finish for Another Year of Schnibbles, hosted by Sinta and Sherri. Thanks girls!!!  This month it was the pattern of our choice, and I went with Spot.018  Someday when time permits, I want to make a wall hanging out of this.  The pattern goes together like butter, and I love it in Vintage Modern.  Runners seem to be what I can get done these days.

The last four years I have spent my Wednesday evenings sewing with a fun group of ladies at one of the local quilt shops.  Recently the owner decided it was time to step away from the shop…..sadness for all for sure……..BUT,  great news. One of the longarmers, and friend to all of us, Ja006nuary,  decided to step in and buy the shop, and Cherry Berry Quilts was born.  It’s so exciting to see the changes happening.  January, along with her mom Joan, Theresa who worked for the previous owner, and many, many 007helpers, the new shop is coming to life.  Fabric, notions, patterns and books are arriving daily, and classes are high on the agenda.  Of course our open sew Wednesday  group is already up and going.002   So

fun.  Last Wednesday the classroom was full!  Congratulations January….you are off to a great start.

Saturday the family went to an Angel game580788_4323500256613_1352956628_n .  The Dots had a great time, and Big Dot loved yelling as loud as he could..and the clapping was fun of course.  Only sad part, our girls guy couldn’t be with us.  We will get him next time!!!!

Then there is this Thursday…….QUILT RETREAT!!!  Four fun filled days of sewing, sewing, sewing, eating and lots of laughing…snorting laughing I bet.  Hopefully I will get some things done :-)!!    Sunday, and I can’t believe this, Big Dot will be 4.  Party time Sunday night!!!!!!!!

Happy end of the month everyone.

A Wee Bit Of Sewing….Lucky Me and Some Tutes

002  A wee bit that’s all there has been time for.  I pinned and marked my Christmas  runner and then actually quilted it myself….very simple quilting, cross hatched the010 the whole thing.  I was a bit worried about putting the giant rick rack on before it got washed so I went for it, thru it in the machine then added the rick rack, and now just the binding is left to do.  This month we get to pick the Schnibble pattern of our choice.  I 011decided to go with Spot and will be making a runner out of Vintage Modern. So far my blocks are made and rows are marked. I love this pattern.  I was one of the lucky winners for last months Schnibbles giveaway,012 and Miss Rosie herself, Carrie, sent me the most wonderful box of goodies.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, and thanks to Sinta and Sherri for this fun group.

christmasthroughtheyearbutton Anyone thinking Christmas???  Darlene and I are once again excited about all the goodies that will be made and we are shaking our pom poms like crazy!!!  If you want some more Christmas inspiration in the gift making department, you just have to check over at Carol’s blog.  She is celebrating Christmas in July and posting a handmade Christmas gift or decoration EVERY day this month……AMAZING!!!!  Now on to some tutes!

Pay It Forward

A short while back Terry over at Terry’s Treasures , posted about a Pay It Forward she was opening up…..  WANTED-- three people who would be interested in re005ceiving a handmade gift from her some time during the next year.  Today this is the wonderful goodness I received from her.  She had posted this sweet heart project on her blog a bit back, and I loved it went I saw it, and now I am so lucky to have it!!  Also included was a sweet doily and some beautiful floss.  Thanks so much Terry.   To continue on the Pay It Forward, I am looking for three people who would like to receive a homemade gift from me during the next year.  You must have an active blog  and agree to pass on the PIF to three people as well.  If you are interested just leave me a comment.

Terrydscn3966 is also starting a Scrappy Star Quilt-Along in August……two blocks per month.  Now that seems pretty darn doable to me….and I am actually considering using my 30’s stash.  If you would like to join in, you can sign up over at Terry’s blog.

I have really been trying my best to concentrate on getting UFO’006s done.  This Christmas table runner was started about 4 years ago.  It’s so stinkin’ easy, why oh why did I put it away?!!!  Here’s the shocking part….I am actually going to quilt it myself.  Crosshatch the whole thing…right thru the borders, then rickrack will go down both sides….easie peasie I hope!!

So what’s your plans for the weekend??  My son and The Granddots are taking Papa to The Angel game tomorrow night so I know where I will be….sewing room here I come!  Happy weekend everyone.
