Teachin An Old Dog and Looser Monday Late!

I am always up for learning new things. Over the years I have this one (oh there are so many more) bad habit that I knew I should change but just resisted. I had quilting teachers point it out, friends, and I even knew I needed to change it!!!! My machine really knew I needed to change....I always pinned my bindings from the left to the right. Hard to take out when you are sewing along and easy just to leave in, and we all know what that leads to and boy does my poor machine know what that leads to. So I have spent a couple weeks making myself pin the other way, and wow, is it every easier to zip along taking them out as you sew!!! I know this seems like a very minor accomplishment, but with all the bindings, this is quite a big deal and time saver...and hopefully no more visits to the machine doctor for hitting a pin!!!

Baby Polka Dot got to sleep over for a couple days, and at his other grammies for a couple days while his mommy and daddy were snowboarding. Quite the good house guest, and we had more fun playing than anything else. He's a rolling machine and his two little bottom teeth are popping thru...sorry about the blurry picture!

My friend Carol made some happy and thought I had to share it...so cute, happy and very Spring! I have added a few more rows to my Old Fashioned Charm quilt. Lovin it more and more as it comes together!
Looser Monday......hmmmm!!! I didn't weigh in last week at WW, baby Polka Dot was here and I refuse to weigh on my possessed scale at home.....it really messes with my head!!! So I am going to say I stayed the same. Not a very accurate report, but I will be weighing in this Thursday. Lori at Recipe Girl continues to help me along. I made her recipe for Baked Chicken Parmesan and even Mr. Polka Dot said WOW!!!!
Happy almost mid week to everyone and hope all is well for you!!

I need to train myself to pin this way too. I have had a few run-ins with snap off needles! Yikes!

What a cute little guy! He is so adorable :o)

Good tip on the pins! I use Little House pins...they're like $10 for a hundred, so you can bet I pick them up when I drop them on the floor, but the sewing machine needle always goes right over them.
That boy is getting cuter if it's at all possible! So glad you get to be so involved. Thanks for the recipe!! I'll definitely be trying it out. :-)

I pin your old way too! Baby Polka Dot, I could just eat him up!! Love your blocks. I have been meaning to ask you this question, the Mary Engelbreit runner you made for me, how did you get the points in, there is not one stitch to be seen, I love it so much and it has been on my counter since the day i got it and I use the thread catcher all the time! Thanks again!!

Here's my confession...I don't pin the binding on at all, I got tired of getting poked lol!! Look at cutey pie Lukey Luke....I cleaned out a book case today and came across one of the kid's french books with the character Lukey Luke and I thought of your Luke--and there he is :) I love your old-fashioned charm quilt!!

Oh Little Luke is getting so big, cuter, and becoming Mr Personality...lucky you to get to have him for over nights. Your quilt is looking really great.

Hi Cheryl,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting about quilt backs. I think I'll dip into the stash for a scrappy backing too. I pin from right to left, but that doesn't stop me from running over the pins. Cute picture of your grandson...I love it when just those 2 bottom front teeth are in on babies.
Thanks again for stopping by,
~Karen~

I learn something new every day whether I want to or not! I don't always remember to use what I learn, but I try!
Luke is just getting cuter all the time. I'm glad you had a great time with him.
I love the projects, too!

Oh my gosh, I had to read and reread what you meant by your pinning problem! Finally, after I clicked to enlarge your pic, I GOT it! DUH!!! So glad you are retraining for easier and quicker sewing.
Your grandbaby is adorable!!! Aren't they fun!!

Learned yourself to pin the other way, good for you! I do it that way but still refuse to remove pins in time :-(. Had a pin with two hooks today after I hit it with my machine. I love the Old Fashioned Charm quilt!
I am sorry Lukes picture is so blurry... You better try again soon ;-)
